Hand files are excellent for filing of flat, broad surfaces and sharp corners. The Hand file is the most commonly used file because it has One Safe Edge ( un-cut edge ) i.e. one edge is smooth without teeth. It's particularly used in the classroom where the Safe Edge is used to allow the filing of a surface without harming an adjoining one.
